But there are so many times when we just don’t know what we’re doing or we don’t know what’s best. How are we to know if our action will have a positive or negative effect on our child? Read more of this post

Three Year Old Behavior Solutions for Every Parent

talking to toddler

I’m a big believer in using language as a tool. And since your three year old is now able to express himself much more clearly than a year ago, this is a great time to use language. Many of my best parenting tips are unique because nobody else seems to be teaching this stuff.

The most important language tool is to do something I call “entering their world”. If your child doesn’t feel like you understand him, or at least that you are trying to understand him, you’ll encounter a big wall of resistance. What happens next? Welcome to tantrum-ville. Read more of this post

Being a parent is one of the most challenging tasks of your life and successful parenting involves a fundamental desire to learn and improve your parenting skills. This is especially true when it comes to child discipline. While children are adorable to play with, teaching them right from wrong, and good from bad, can be tough.

Parents often struggle the most with children who are around two or three years old. This stage of the terrible twos or threes is right between learning to walk and talk (the basics), and learning to use logic (more complex). The child also wants to be more independent.

Behavioral Problems in Toddlers

By Chris ThompsonHandling Behavioral Problems in Toddlers

It’s not easy having a toddler in the house. These cute creatures are a pleasure to have when they’re in a good mood, but their emotional state and behavior can turn on a dime. If you aren’t equipped to steer them in the right direction it will cause you a lot of unnecessary stress.

The toddler stage is difficult because this is when children start to realize how many choices are available in the world around them. There are so many toys, lots of space and plenty of activities. There are lots of things to play with and touch. Combine that with an increased awareness of those choices and a low attention span and you can see why it often seems to parents that toddlers are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. They don’t have a singular focus. As you’ll learn, this same “problem” is also your solution to overcoming behavior issues. Read more of this post
